How to develop a good rectenna for microwave power transfer?

Abstract:
A rectenna, rectifying antenna, is most important technology both for a microwave power transfer and for an energy harvesting from radio waves. The rectifying circuit in the rectenna is composed of a diode and capasitance on a microwave circuit. The best way to develop a 'good' rectenna is to apply the design method of a microwave amplifier. Additionally, we have to consider the combination of the antenna and the rectifying circuit. In this tutorial, I will show various rectennas which were developed in the world and will explain how to design the 'good' rectenna, which includes higher maximum RF-DC conversion efficiency, higher RF-DC conversion efficiency at lower input microwave power, and wider frequency range.
